Dad Vail Plans

Sunday, April 25 Metropolitan Intercollegiate Rowing results should be posted on http://www.row2k.com/results/ soon.

Several parents are planning to meet the team at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta May 6-8, 2010. The Dad Vail in the city of Philadelphia is the largest college regatta in the United States with over 100 schools attending from the U.S. and Canada.

For Dad Vail Regatta, the team is staying at:
Hampton Inn Philadelphia Center City-Convention Center
1301 Race Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA 19107
Tel: 1-215-665-9100

The team arrives in Philadelphia Thursday evening, May 6 and competition begins Friday morning. Coach is unsure of the race times yet. Likely three crews will race on Friday morning and then on Saturday if they qualify for the semi and Saturday afternoon if they qualify for the final.

We are planning a team and family dinner for the Friday evening but I can not confirm a time since I do not know when the heats on Friday will be. Families of the Midshipmen are invited to join the team. Please ask those that are interested to contact Coach Hartwick at 908-917-0509 prior to noon that Friday.

Refer to the following page to link to the regatta web site and for directions to the race site.
http://www.dadvail.org/Directions to our launch site: We will be launching from and storing our shells at the regatta site listed on the website listed above. We will be at this site from approximately 6:00 am on Friday till 1:30 p.m. Then we will be at this location from 0800 on Saturday till 1:00p.m. Look for the blue KP burgee (triangular shaped flag) on a pole attached to the blue trailer with our name on it. We will also have a white tent with our name on it set up near the trailer.

Knecht Cup Results

The Kings Point Varsity Men’s Rowing team was victorious at the Knecht Cup Regatta in Cherry Hill, NJ over the weekend. In finishing first in the Division II/III Men’s Eight, Kings Point Rowing history was made, the first Kings Poing men's eight title ever at the Knecht Cup. The Men’s freshman crew also had a fine showing as they qualified for the semi-finals in the Men’s Frosh Four. The Varsity Women’s Four had to endure rather rough conditions during its qualifying heat. By mid-afternoon the water had white caps which made racing more of a survival competition than a speed race.

The Knecht Cup Regatta is one of largest spring competitions for college rowing, attracting over 50 schools from Maine to Florida and as far west at Wisconsin. It is the first true test of crews on a large scale. Some of the events have as many as thirty teams competing for top honors.
