Spring Training 2010

Jacksonville, Florida
March 6-13

The USMMA varsity rowers travel to Florida to get a “head up” on the competition that they will face during the sprint racing regattas this Spring. The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter and the Florida Chapter of the USMMA Parents Association sponsors training our rowers on the Arlington River.

Coach Derek Hartwick has again decided to train his team in Jacksonville on the Arlington River. It has often been said that the waters of the Arlington River offer the best conditions for rowing in this region. Coach Hartwick considers Jacksonville to be the team’s Spring training “home.”
Parents from out of town are welcome.

Parents will actually be able to stay on the Navy Base in the same Inn as the team, even if they are not military, as guests of their respective rower who carries a military ID. Great rates, too. Just a little coordinating since we cannot make reservations directly, except if you have your own military ID. Once checked in, the Gateway Inn passes info to the Gate Security so that we will have access on and off. (the first time through will require a sponsor which the Jacksonville chapter will do down here).

Scott and Brenda O'Connor are host once again, (904) 251-3097/(904)545-3179.
